About Us

Pettistree with Loudham is a small Suffolk village situated about 5 miles north of Woodbridge and just south of Wickham Market. It has a population of just under 200 people and is set in 1,800 acres of farmland, which is intersected by many miles of footpaths and country lanes.

Greyhound InnAlthough Pettistree is a rather scattered community, the village congregates around the 13th century Church, the Green and the Greyhound Inn. At the eastern entrance to the village is the Three Tuns, an old coaching inn situated at the crossroads of the old turnpike, now the B1438 road.

Pettistree's centre is a Conservation Area featuring thatched cottages, ancient farmhouses and a scattering of modern homes. Even the concrete water tower built in the 1950's and painted pastel green somehow manages to go relatively un-noticed. Loudham's most impressive domestic building is Georgian Loudham Hall.

loudham woodsAlthough the land is mostly agricultural, Loudham Woods offer a breathtaking vista of bluebells in the springtime.

The hub of community life in Pettistree is the Village Hall whose organising committee promotes events throughout the year, parties, quiz evenings, theme nights and educational sessions. The Village Hall is well equipped and well used for private functions.

village signThe Village Sign situated on the Village Green was bought and erected through public subscriptions in 1987. Its design and appearance, which is much admired, depicts the rural heritage of the village and it's environs.
